The task was to create a cookbook with minimal information in hand and “carte blanc”. The mainfocus was the typography. The book “Om jag var din hemmafru” is written by Lotta Lundgren.
1. A cookbook should have a fresh appeal- ing visual appearance and be easy to use. I have chosen the clean surfaces, with focus on graphical elements such as typography, simple illustrations, colors and contrasts. I have also used the white surfaces to enchase the illustrations. I have also added colorful illustrations and photos randomly.
The font family includes five variations that have great potential, since they can be combined in various ways. The choice fell on 3 of the 5 fonts:
AW Conquerer Sans
AW Conqueror Slab
AW Conquerer Didot
Titles - The size of the font in different sizes so it will be eye-catching and ensure interest. Main focus has been the use of capital let- ters, which fits nicely as AW Conquerer Slab only comes in caps.
Body - I primarily chose the sans serif to achieve a good readability. It stands in nice contrast to both AW Conquerer Didot and Conquerer Slab.
3. Colors I played around with colors and used this to create a dynamic and exciting look.
Primarily, I chose the colors green, orange, brown / purple and dark pink. The color scheme is based on that there should be an expression of the various seasons, positivity, creativity.
Generally, I used colors and variety of font size to achieve contrasts, for example com- bining serif and sans serif fonts. I have also used color on the titles to highlight some parts of the text. Despite the contrast, it provides a harmonious expression.
4. Images and Illustrations I chose to create simple illustrations with the aim to represent a theme / object for the various chapters. Images were used for each recipe.
