Bee’s Knees. A carefree bar for sad and tired

During this project a logo design, a key visual, and branding for a cocktail bar were developed.
The brand is designed for those adults, whose predominant mood is sadness :( 
 Bee’s Knees goal is to bring some lightheartedness and childlike joy to dull routine. Fast and easy hand drawn style of graphics reflects the main idea of the brand – happiness is not in perfection, but in jolly unbothered worldview. Key visual is based on reflecting an interaction between the brand, which is represented by a kind, carefree, and comic bee character, and the audience – tired people who drop by seeking some peace of mind. These idea of mixing the unmixable goes well with the purpose of Bee’s Knees – making cocktails filled with unexpected flavours and tastes, which bring to bar guests the joy of surprise and childlike sense of wonder.




Brand style contains one unexpected element which may seem a bit odd - a classic antique font. Its neat minimalist look brings in some calmness and neutralizes fast and messy illustrations. If the typography was hand written and matched the graphics the brand would be perceived as excessively childish.
The concept of the branding was also spread on a website design – a neutral black and white color scheme is diluted with ironic photos and an interaction with the animated bee character, which guides users through the menu.
