// Book Cover DESIGN CONCEPT //
Book cover concept design for a student fictional brief given by profile books for a redesign of one of their classic titles by Catriona Ward. The book focuses on themes of mystery, thriller and horror genres and after reading the book these are what I chose to focus my design on.
I experimented using a range of mark making techniques from oil pastels to paper cutting and black Indian Ink. I decided ink was the best approach as it created more loose and abstract marks that were more fitting for the theme and could be used in a variety of different ways.
Below is a documentation of my process using different typefaces and a blue colour palette. I decided these features didn't give the same impression of the atmosphere that I got from reading the book and therefore decided to alter it to the final version above.
