Discord - Safety Teen Charter
Last year, Discord took several steps to implement safety on its platform for younger users, introducing the Safety Teen charter. They reached us to work on the launch video, a special project in line with Discord’s colorful brand.
Welcome on board Air Wumpus, the craziest plane ever. It may seem a bit crowded, but that’s exactly how we wanted it.
Long, endless, with a seat for each of the colorful Discord users, all having fun waiting for an important message from the captain.

Styleframes
We started by producing a hero styleframe for the whole project, can you guess which one is it?
That set the tone for the whole design process and you can clearly understand it was mandatory to have such a level of details and fill the boards with the craziest things, managing that has been quite tricky.

The plane
The plane
This plane was a joy to play with: filled with incredible and colorful contraptions, crazy characters interacting with each other and being part of the Discord ecosystem. UI elements were a nice idea to include, to make people feel at home as if in the real-life app, can you spot these?
The whole scene is mind boggling enough from the outside, but also the inside took some planning and study, to showcase what a wonderful place like Discord could look like if it were real.

Can you imagine how Discord's community look all together in one single place while having a great time? We could, and from eccentric to hilarious, we populated the plane with gaming pals that'll have you in stitches. Get ready to meet the crew you never knew you needed!

This was our playground. We opted for a blend of traditional and modern techniques, infusing the timeless charm of 2D animation while also including some 3D elements in a perfect blend.
The result? A visually stunning journey that seamlessly merges the best of both worlds, capturing the essence of Discord's vibrant community in every frame.

Meticulously planning each shot was crucial to make everything work in the best possible way, so a pass of rough animation was more than due to ensure we were doing the right thing.
