Figure 8, a virtual store in Second Life specializing in furniture and accessories, wanted to establish a cohesive brand identity to enhance its market presence. The client desired a professional and visually appealing identity that included a logo, an unpacker HUD, and an advertising template that was versatile enough to use for a variety of products.

The conceptualization of the logo for Figure 8 began by delving into the inspiration provided by the client's curated Pinterest board. While reviewing the pins, a common theme of thick typography and black and white color schemes stood out. There was a mixture of serif and sans serif fonts and even a few fonts that could be described as luxurious, so a variety of concepts were initially presented.

Accompanying each concept was a complimenting logo mark to showcase how each logo could be simplified as an icon for use across different applications and platforms. The client chose the third logo concept and was then presented with different color options. While they asked to see the logo with a light green background, they ultimately chose to go with a dark background and off-white text. The same light green color was later introduced into their logo mark and other design elements.
Throughout the design process, certain recurring design elements were strategically employed to establish visual cohesion across Figure 8's brand identity. One such element was the incorporation of dots within the logo mark, a motif that was subtly echoed in other aspects of the brand's visual identity. In the unpacker HUD, the inclusion of eight dots served as a clever nod to the "8" in Figure 8, reinforcing brand recognition and consistency across different touchpoints.

Additionally, the light green circles, initially introduced as icon backgrounds in the unpacker HUD, proved to be versatile elements that found purpose beyond mere aesthetics. In the ad template, these circles were repurposed to denote permissions, effectively conveying crucial information to potential customers in a visually engaging manner.

By employing these recurring design elements thoughtfully and purposefully across various assets, Figure 8's brand identity remained cohesive, recognizable, and imbued with subtle yet meaningful symbolism.

In conclusion, the graphic design project for Figure 8 has successfully created a cohesive brand identity system that reflects the essence and values of the brand. This brand identity system not only enhances Figure 8's market presence but also fosters brand recognition, trust, and loyalty among its customers. By presenting a consistent and compelling visual narrative across all touchpoints, Figure 8 is poised to stand out in a competitive landscape, leaving a lasting impression on users and driving sustained growth and success in the virtual realm of Second Life.
