The location is between Hagafell and Stóra Skógfell
The fissure has elongated to 3.5 kilometres now. Lava is flowing extremely fast and has already reached 1.5 kilometres far in 1.5 hours in the direction of Grindavík. The gas pollution from the eruption is the most of all eruptions in Reykjanes thus far.
This is the largest of the Sundhnúkargigar eruptions.
