Custom panel embellishment on CD storage chest,
now acting as a storage unit for tattoo machines and materials.
The first steps were to roughly place the cutouts by orientation and size so as to create a general placement plan. I worked from big to small, hand tearing the paper as I went so I could create kind of a rugged and natural connection between the pieces, rather than show the straight edges of the paper. This is just a personal preference.
I used a clear lacquer to enbalm and collage multiple layers of the ripped up sketchbook pages, maintaining a theme of doodles and tags
mostly spelling "Zabod," the name of my tattoo shop.
To keep some of the vibe and functionality of the original chest, I left a couple of CDs spaced to make little shelves. This came in handy for bottled products such as alcohol and other products used in the studio.
