About
Hi Kaktus! is a small business based in Bali that sells ornamental plants such as cacti and succulents, as well as gardening supplies since late 2017. The business name doesn't have a specific philosophy; it's simply intended to create a friendly introduction to succulent and cactus plants.

Goal
Redesigning the initial packaging with the concept of a special edition: Christmas Day.
In commemoration of Christmas Day, a special edition was chosen as cacti and succulents are often selected as souvenirs/gifts on special occasions. Therefore, this time Hi Kaktus! will create a special themed Christmas (Illustration Style) edition packaging as premium packaging for souvenirs during the Christmas festivities.
Concept

Cozy & Succulent

The "Cozy" concept is utilized to create an atmosphere that aligns with the theme of the special edition packaging, which is the Christmas edition. This concept is chosen because it embodies the notions of comfort, relaxation, warmth, and is synonymous with the ambiance of a room. In its implementation, warm colors such as orange, yellow, and red will be used, combined with illustrations depicting the warmth of Christmas settings such as fireplace visuals and the glow of Christmas tree decorations.

The "Succulent" concept is employed as a reminder of the products sold by the MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises). In its implementation, it will combine illustrations of Christmas elements with illustrations of succulent plants such as a Christmas tree reshaped into a cactus form. Additionally, complementary illustrations of other types of succulent plants will be incorporated into the design.
Plant Product Size
For this edition, each packaging contains 2 pots of plants sized 7.5 x 7 cm and free gift of decorative stones. This product size was chosen as it is deemed suitable for gift packages at the most affordable price.
Creative Thinking

In the packaging design, my aim is to create a functional packaging that can accommodate all the products provided in one container, easily held in one hand. (Because in the previous packaging, the plant products and the decorative stone gift were separately packaged in one cardboard box, which was then placed in a plastic bag. In other words, this resulted in the wasteful use of plastic bags and cardboard.)

Additionally, since this is a premium packaging for the Christmas edition gift package, I'm using a concept that aimed at conveying the warmth of Christmas at the first glance and of course relating to the products. In the packaging design, the front outer side features illustrations that focused solely on the products, cacti, while the back side focuses on illustrations of when the products are applied to a room. The inner side of the packaging contains information about Hi Kaktus! and a guide to caring for these prickly friends.
