Album Cover and Gig Poster Design
For this project, I had to redesign an album cover of my choice, and create a gig poster for the album I had created. I originally went with a more photographic route, but I wanted to do illustration instead and so I redesigned my redesign while creating the gig poster. In Ricky Montgomery's original album cover design, it features a fairly cartoonish and caricature-esk look to the artist, I wanted to try and deviate from the caricature and focus more on the artist's actual features instead. The album itself has a melancholy-december feel to it, and so I wanted to try and recreate that feeling in my poster and cover with the fog and the simplistic, muted colors. I plan on editting the Gig Poster more when I have time, and I plan on fixing the back of the album a bit as well. In my process I started with a pinterest board and looking up what music style the music artist was inspired by to see if I could get inspired by it as well. That's where I got the idea to use the main font that is featured on all parts of the mock-up.
