STENCIL SCRIPT - TYPEFACE DESIGN
I created this typeface as a student with the goal of combining graffiti, illustration, and traditional template fonts to create a promotional font for an artist. It's a script style that's been adapted to work with stencils, and I wanted it to capture the beauty and elegance of a script, but with a gritty, yet sophisticated edge of a traditional stencil. To show off the font, I laser cut the entire alphabet (including numbers and characters) from a sheet of stainless steel, and then spray-painted it onto a wall in a busy intersection in the midtown Johannesburg. The final product is shown in these photos, along with the initial sketches.
