As a new exploration of media, I was unaware at how specific each mark was with white charcoal on black paper. After beginning this process, it was apparent to myself and others that even the slightest wrong move will truly never be completely erased. Each aspect of this drawing was an approach that may seem uncommon (adding the light instead of the dark), which is what makes the details that much important for this piece. The lighting elements had to be portrayed perfectly, or the entire composition would appear incorrect to the viewer. This piece not only has a special focus on every dark crevice and highlight, but it also taught me the importance of using every range of shading and color on the entirety of the paper, with no minimal detail left out.
