No Artificial (i)ngredients

No Artificial (i)ngredients.
This wasn’t made with AI, but it may as well have been.
I didn’t design this, I designed the set of rules to create it.
A harmony between random noise patterns and complex proceduralism. I have very little control of the shapes and forms it creates, and that’s what got me thinking about the level of control and value AI can offer for us as designers.
There’s a lot of mixed feelings around the growing use of AI in the creative industry but i don’t see AI replacing the process of design as we know it. I see it becoming a tool just like the renderers we use everyday. We give it a set of rules like we do a current renderer - lights, composition, geometry and materiality but unlike a renderer we can also give it inspiration, references and ideas, then we let AI vision do the rest.

This may be a naïve view. It could be a short term view, a 1 or 2 year outlook. With this though, the democratisation of skills and ability will expand even further, leading to an even larger value on concept and thinking behind pieces of work rather than execution.
