Tra5Boom (طراخ بووم) is a show about comics on YouTube hosted by me and my friend Mike V. Derderian.

The show is in Arabic and so the logo is designed with Arabic calligraphy. My approach was to create something fun and evocative of large lettering that denotes explosion sound effects in comics (since "Tra5Boom" is onomatopoeia for explosion sounds in Arabic).

Above: I like to design logos by sketching on paper first before moving to Adobe Illustrator. At first I thought of portraying the logo as a folded paper with letters on each section, referencing the way comic books are printed on large sheets and then folded and cut. I later decided to go with a more round look to make it more legible when it's scaled down as a profile picture.

The color palette was inspired by CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) which are the four main colors in print, paying homage to the roots of the comics medium.
