In my Hands (2023)

Exploring the theme "Beyond the Bounds," I decided to venture into new territory by learning pottery making and revisiting poetry. This creative journey has been transformative. Working with clay, I discovered the joy of tactile expression, learning patience and embracing the organic, unrestricted flow of creativity. Through poetry, words became my canvas, allowing me to explore my thoughts and emotions deeply. Together, these arts provided me with a chance to be fully present, fostering self-discovery and a playful approach to my creative process. This experience has not only honed my skills but also enriched my understanding of the boundless possibilities within the realm of art.

I crafted five clay pieces using a pinching technique, finding therapeutic joy in the process. These items, versatile as vases, planters, or ornaments, emerged organically, without a set plan. Alongside, I created a digital artwork featuring a poem centred around themes of transformation and growth. I titled this series "In My Hands," which captures the process of  tactile creation and self-expression that emerged from my experience in crafting this body of work.

In my hands, the past finds release
As I sculpt a future, filled with peace
From what was, to what can be
In my hands, I found my truest free

In my hands, change takes hold
A story of growth, beautifully told
In every touch, a world takes form
In my hands, the cold feels warm

In my hands, both strong and kind
The power to heal, the strength to bind
Where time stands still, a silent start
In my hands, I hold my heart
