Ideas and perspectives are limited by personal experiences, and oftentimes looking is reduced to only a glimpse. Our show, Looking Good, is not only concerned with how things ‘look’, but it is also defined by how well we have “looked” at a new “good” that each of us has identified for ourselves. Encouraging people to “look good” — thoroughly observe the world around them — has the capacity to shift perceptions, cultivate awareness, and clarify the positive. With sincere intentions, we encourage re-evaluation of the “good” that surrounds us. This catalogue and curated exhibition of thesis work, by and for students, is the result of values fostered by faculty and colleagues — principles such as: entrepreneurship, motivation, hard work, collaboration, and perseverance. Instead of taking an attitude of competition towards our peers, an environment of teamwork and unity has been nurtured in our Sullivan Building Studios. The aim of the Looking Good collection, is not only to show a collection of thesis work, but also to put on display the incredible positive influence that our collaborative studio culture has had on our work. Looking Good is a Collection of thesis projects done at School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Creative Authentication = "Looking Through" is part of this amazing Collection.
Creative Authentication addresses the meaning of “being creative” in the modern world ideology. Where everything is formulated to be a novelty, new products or new solutions are the valuable ones and similar ideas seem not to be worthy, creativity can be a potent tool if used as a strategy to challenge complex problems. Creative Authentication is part of the Looking Good Collection.
