These graphics were made to promote events my school club(s) were hosting. On all of these projects I was given a lot of freedom to design them the way I like. The only real requirement was for them to actually be related to the theme of the event at hand. Everything was made with Canva.
Graphic made to introduce students to the 2023/2024 executive committee. The purpose of the club is to celebrate and cultivate the Latin community at my university. The idea to make it beach themed came to me almost right away as hot weather and fun vacations are usually associated with countries in Latin America. I also thought to represent the country of each member by placing their photos on top of their respective flags (their real faces have been removed because I want to respect their privacy).
Individual pages of each member highlighting name, position, major and year of study, country of origin and favorite food. Removed faces and names for privacy.
Post made to advertise a karaoke event we held. I thought that putting singing people on a stage was a safe idea that made a lot of sense in relation to karaoke. The idea of having the hands at the bottom, representing a cheering audience, was meant to inspire our potential guests to both encourage those singing on stage and to also try to sing themselves so that they could be cheered for as well. While it is a fun activity, Karaoke can be a bit daunting for some as it takes courage to go up and perform. I designed this graphic with that concept in mind in order to try to create a poster that made our club seeming very welcoming and open to letting others participate.
Post made for a Jeopardy event centered around Latin students and culture. Drew inspiration from the game itself to design this post. The images in the speech bubbles relate to categories that we devised for the game (geography, food, music, etc.), using things that many Hispanic people are familiar with. I also took a few creative liberties with the character designs, diversifying them and adding extra minor details like jewelry and makeup. This made them more representative of the Hispanic community as a whole and of the community present at our university.
Post for Valentine's Day event. My initial though process behind this post was to make it very cute and happy. Valentine's Day is a day full of positive emotions so the design is meant to be representative of that, with lots of heart imagery and smiling characters. The event had fun Valentine's themed activities and we matched people up with each other too, which is what inspired me to have characters exchanging gifts front and centre. I believed that focusing on making the post cute would help to excite our attendees for what we had planned.
Graphic for a movie night post where we screened Rio (2011). I wanted to make use of the colors of the Rio logo so many aspects of the post are blue, yellow and/or orange. I also decided to add a fun facts page related to the movie's protagonist and the country it takes place in to contextualize the film's cultural background in relation to the overall theme of our club.
