In 2020, I had a chance to collaborate with an amazing Dr. Igor Adameyko aka @the_story_of_a_biologist to make these amazing illustrations about lab and science for The Karolinska Institutet a research-led medical university in Sweden and one of the foremost medical research institutes globally. I always loved science related topic when it comes to drawing so I was very excited about this project.
And now I am happy to share this stuff with you!
Human Cells
Human Facial Diversity
We, humans, are the only animals that communicate the identity via the shape of our faces.
A small child always knows which mother is its mother. It remembers her face first, then the appearance. This is really marvelous and mind-boggling, if we think about this for a second. In this respect, humans are unique.

Other animals recognize each other based on the general look, smell, posture, behavior, coloration of hairs or fur etc. Baby panda knows which of the pandas is its mother because he knows her scent.
✨We are trying to understand what makes us different and beautiful
Primary Cells
As cells become more and more diverse in evolution, they can build more sophisticated bodies and assign new functions and properties to a biological matter.
All great transitions and explosions of designs in evolution presumably involved elaboration of new cell types – for instance, neurons controlling the behavior, or immune cells protecting the body from invasions.

We constantly work on a problem of evolution of cell types and animal designs that result from such cell type evolution.
Cancer In Newborn Babies
There are three main types of treatment for childhood cancers: surgery, chemotherapy andradiotherapy (radiation therapy). Imagine how amazing would be a treatment that does not involve any chemicals, drugs or other external substances. That’s why we want to come up with a solution to cure a cancer in newborn babies.
We try to understand how nervous and immune systems miscommunicate to cause other different related disorders. Hopefully, our work will help to find a practical solution or a cure to these problems in the future.
Scientist World
Being a scientist you cannot travel and discover new continents and islands like great explorers of the past. We cannot go to the space, as we are not ready yet..

Thus, the only travel that is truly original and possible at the civilization level is the scientific travel into the depths and abysses of things in nature. This is a hard, demanding and dangerous path for individuals, and, at the same time, so fulfilling.
“I personally went through the experience of making a discovery and sharing it with other, and it felt like dropping into the middle of a black hole with a bunch of your friends. These moments were amazing.“ ~ Igor Adameyko
