The poster and social media comps were designed as a mockup practicing the design principles and process. The theme is a Bible conference held by a made-up ministry. I desired to express growth in God’s word. I hoped to create a poster that encouraged people to grow in their faith while also containing outreach content. The project took a detailed process from start to finish. My project started with mood boards and words describing everything I hoped for the mockup event poster. Next, I took those mood words and ideas to thumbnail sketches, extensively putting everything that was in my head onto paper. Once I had many rough thumbnails of my event poster and coordinating social media posts, I began to create refined sketches. Taking the sketches to Photoshop enabled further detailed comps. Picking my favorite comp was difficult, but the one selected for the poster best utilized visual hierarchy and contrast. The social media posts carried repetition from the poster and were worded in ways to stir hype for the event. This mockup poster and social media posts allowed for greater practice and knowledge of the design process and utilized the principles.
