Many objects are expected to have a home hidden in a cupboard or under a counter. I wanted to design one of these objects that made the user want to put it out in full view. Coca, pronounced with the Xhosa ‘C’ click, hides all characters of being a dustpan and brush and expresses a more sculptural feel.  

After much research I found that the main criteria needed to be: compactness, ease of cleaning after use and most importantly, the way it hugs the ground for the most effective dirt pickup. 

The brush is made from nylon and the pan from silicon allowing the brush to be removed from its home within the pan as well as moulding slightly to the floor when in use.
