Did you hear about the one time I sketched 100 shoe concepts in a weekend?

Ok so I didn't succeed but in the span of about 4 days off and on I sketched shoes like crazy.

Why?
1. Why not?
2. I haven't really drawn shoes much, although every once in a while I will sketch a pair for giggles.
3. I have always been amazed by those who become shoe designers. I would believe that this is a subset of industrial design that is about as specialized as car design.
4. Simply, can I sketch 100 shoes and not lose interest?

As it turns out, I kept coming back to it with renewed interest. It was never boring.

So then the mind wanders to: what would each of these look like if I rendered these up? Cue #vizcom which allowed me to whip out these cool renderings in no time at all.

My point is that AI allows designers, at this very early stage of concept development, to see ideas of what something could look like.

I don't think I spent more than 3 minutes on each concept. There's still lots to potentially do, including sole design, alternate views, etc etc etc.

Some of these are outlandish, silly, gawdy, but it doesn't matter. Its about exploration, and this is what AI will allow us to do more of in the future.
