🔬 I am delighted to present posters and cards representing the illustrations of 6 women scientists whose discoveries have changed our daily lives.
- 🐟 María de los Ángeles Alvariño González (oceanographer) who discovered and described, during ocean expeditions, 22 new maritime species
- 🚀 Katherine Johnson (space engineer - mathematician) who did trajectory analysis for mission Freedom 7.
- 🧬 Flossie Wong Staal (chemist) who being the first person to clone HIV and determine the function of its genes. Her research helped lead to the development of blood tests to detect the presence of HIV.
- 🧮 Maryam Mirzakhani (mathematician) whose research work has provided a new understanding of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces
- 💊 Jane C. Wright (Doctor of Medicine) who was a pioneer in cancer research and a surgeon renowned for her contributions to chemotherapy.
- 🌍 Inge Lehmann (seismologist) who proved that there was a solid core at Earth’s center.
