Cold Plasma Tissue Welding Probe

Cold plasma tissue welding probe for surgical use.
Designed for Israel medical start-up, that revolutionized surgical incisions closure. Consists of disposable, detachable tip, and reusable hand-piece.

" IonMed’s BioWeld1 bonds surgical incisions using cold plasma — instead of painful stitches, staples or glue – within minutes, sealing and disinfecting the wound with minimal scarring and recovery time. The CE Mark is expected in October, with European sales and US FDA approval process starting in early 2014."
The procedure takes a few minutes, seals the area completely, leaves minimal scarring or painful stitches, and does not require complex training.
“No one has done this before — and more than that, the platform of cold plasma is a technology that is not available in medicine yet,” says Ronen Lam, IonMed’s co-founder and vice president for business development. “We will probably be the first,” he tells ISRAEL21c.

I was recruited to design the hand piece, that will provide good ergonomic, non-slip grip, combined with clean lines. Easy to clean and sterilize part.
I was responsible for design, 3D modeling and engineering of plastic parts, in collaborations with the engineer
