7 March Speech of Bongobondhu

On March 7, 1971, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, affectionately known as Bongobondhu (Friend of Bengal), delivered a historic speech at the Racecourse Ground in Dhaka, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). In his speech, he passionately articulated the grievances of the Bengali people and their aspirations for autonomy and equality within Pakistan. Rahman's speech galvanized the masses and played a pivotal role in igniting the Bengali nationalist movement, which eventually led to the Bangladesh Liberation War and the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent nation. Rahman's words resonated deeply with the people, inspiring them to fight for their rights and independence against oppression and injustice. His famous rallying cry "Joy Bangla" became the anthem of the independence movement and continues to evoke a sense of pride and unity among Bangladeshis to this day.
