Cobra SENSO tap

Cobra SENSO - Hand gesture tracking automated tap
The University of Johannesburg took on the Cobra Taps design competion. The brief for this project was to design a kitchen tap utlilising induction heading.

The Cobra SENSO tap was short listed in the top 25.
Imagine a tap which requires no physical touching to function. Every action is controlled through gestures.
The result: A more hygienic, aesthetically simple and effortless tap to use.
The SENSO incorporates induction heating in order to heat water faster, thus decreasing water usage and waitting time for hot water. A step motor coupled to the tap, turns it in an area of 140 degrees. A solenoid enables water flow and a flow meter is able to read water temperature and usage. All electrical components are located under the sink and are linked from the taps built in PCB with LCD and sensors, and linked back to the control unit.
