These are my most representative, completed acrylic paintings. Exploring simultaneous themes of interconnectedness and expansiveness, color is at the forefront. While nature has not often been the explicit subject of my paintings, all of them are deeply inspired by time spent in the mountains, forest and river for that is when the interrelationship between microcosm & macrocosm becomes clear to me.
"I am You" (left): This painting speaks to the interconnectedness of all beings. We are simultaneously the creator and the created. The rainbow released from the being gets incorporated into the universe above then makes it way back into the being's consciousness alluding to the power of creation and the ability with thoughts, words and action to influence all else.

The initial version I painted (left) was largely planned. I had drawn in pencil the image I wanted to paint then essentially filled in the lines with paint. On the right, you see a departure from that planning. The second iteration started from one image and expanded from that: a style of creating that feels representative of the present approach I take when painting.

These two paintings were done for a class teaching how to paint with dimension, value and tone.
