The intital thumbnail sketch, though I suppose it's a large thumbnail. 

I started the idea out with a large thumbnail in my sketchbook and added onto the sketch while I was falling asleep last night. The moon would contrast the character and possibly the scenery as well. 

From there, I loosely sketched the scene out and moved the character around to follow the golden spiral out a bit. 

 

After that, I started applying some values with blue and adding in something for the top right corner.

Part 2, or 3 if you count the inital sketch, of my painting.

 

I decided to work on the buildings before the character. My way of thinking was so I wouldn't skimp on the buildings later. I may have to go back and double check their values but I think I got them down, with the help of the Black and White layer toggling. 

The clouds still need work; I may decide to scatter them a bit more rather than having one large cloud with smaller ones near it. 

 

I got around to working on the character. I made some minor lines around the character but only in certain areas. 

I also adjusted the clouds, made some transparent layers for the character's helmet.
