For the first book cover I painted the French Flag and took a picture of some broken bread. The flag symbolizes the French revolution when the novel takes place, while the bread represents the part of the story where Jean Valjean steals bread for his family and is taken to a prison camp. 

The second composition was made in Adobe Fresco, which is a new Adobe product that I am trying out. I created candle sticks because to represent the candlesticks that the priest gracefully allowed Jean Valjean to keep.

For this last composition I focused on typography and made the novel name and author have a similar wave shape as the french flag.
