Dynamic Visuals: Vector Graphic Gig Poster
By Daniel Anaya
The goal of this Gig Poster project was to create a professional design using the four principles of visual design: concept, elements, composition, and style. For this project, I chose to design a poster for a fictional Indie band.

Sketches
After deciding on the type of music genre, I began creating initial sketches for the band name, typography, and a variety of possible elements that I wanted to incorporate into the design. The sketches helped to organize my thoughts and get a general idea for the vibe I wanted for this poster design.

Draft
My first draft was an attempt to create a planet in a sunset style sky. I had some difficulties creating the right visualization for the planet. To me, it looked very much like a tennis ball. I knew that I had to make some changes to get the right look for the final graphic.

Final
The final design was based off of the concept "Calm and Composed Imagination".  I designed the planet in a way that would be visually interesting but would invoke a sense of relaxation.

I used the contrasting greens and pinks to create visual focus. I kept the design relatively minimalistic, as I wanted the viewer to have a sense of leisure.

For style, I kept the background more simple than the foreground. This makes the viewer's attention go from out to in.

This was a great project for improving ones understanding of creating more professional visual designs.
Thank you for taking the time to look at this project, and if you liked it, please take a look at some of my other work!
