Gig Poster Project
For my latest project I was asked to create a gig poster for a fake band and I could make the theme anything I wanted, so I thought it would be fun to have some options.
For the most part my ideas lacked a sense of consistency but I knew I wanted a central figure surrounded by three different designs as well as a background to fit a specific theme.

I finally decided on that theme in the form of an outdoor concert.
My first Draft
My Original plan was to make to a campfire rock concert that would be fun for all ages. but the truth was this design was a little too much like a cartoon and I wanted to have a balance of animated and real felling designs.
My second Draft
For my second draft I wanted to keep things simple and keep the focus on the band so I eliminated the tent concert idea and made another guitar. I tried to create a sense of emphasis on the guitars and have them make a sense of leading your eye foreword to the center of the poster but all I really did was take away from my main subjects. I also simplified my color scheme to be a basic red, yellow and blue triadic. But I felt it wasn't good enough for the idea I had in mind.
My Third draft
For my third draft I kept the emphasis on the guitars but I added a few extra details and increased their size so they would be the main focus but I was distracting my audience by having too many symbols and blends in my poster.
My Final Draft
After showing my project to few friends and my Graphics design instructor I realized I had too much taking away from my idea of an outdoor rock concert by a campfire. So I kept the emphasis on the guitars by getting rid of the distracting background elements like the trees and placed each guitar on a tree stump with a little textured design on each to show off them as the main subject, for the other parts of the design I wanted them to simply blend into the project and incorporate the band advertisement into the different aspects of the design.
