State Police is one of the national police forces of Italy and the principal Italian force for the maintenance of public security.
The last important changes to the State Police Coat of Arms occurred in 1991. In 2018 the Police celebrated 171 year of it's foundation. It was a good moment to modernize the Coat of Arms maintaining the contents and colors and respecting history and traditions.
New and different representation of the characteristic details of the State Police Coat of Arms: the turreted crown, the shield with the closed silver book, the two silver inflamed torches and the golden lion, the motto SUB LEGE LIBERTAS on a fluttering golden ribbon.
A mosaic of the coat of arms was created in the courtyard of the Milan police headquarters.
