See Like Me Book Design

See Like Me is a book that talks about the misconceptions revolving around blindness, the challenges faced by blind people and how one can be more empathetic & inclusive towards them by breaking those misconceptions and making life  less challenging and more accessible for them. Hence, this book targets a general audience because everyone needs to be aware about these things and that begins with educating oneself.
I have used tactile elements to make this book engaging not only for the blind but also to let sighted people experience something new and learn from it. I have used materials like jute rope and different paper and sponge to bring about elements of touch. I have also put a section on Braille to help people learn the language if they curious to do so.
In the Introduction, I have explained the different types of blindness by designing the eyes in ways where they connect to the specific condition. A completely black eyeball for complete blindness, a fuzzy eyeball for Partial Blindness, a snowflake for an eyeball for Snowblindness and so on.
In the first topic Ripples of Facts, I have tried to capture the feeling of calmness and clarity after breaking misconceptions. I have used the metaphor of touching the calm lake of myths that everyone finds comfort in. But when one touches upon these waters, it creates ripples that stand for change.
Ripples of Facts stands for the change from myths to facts. There is a short quote that goes with it. So when one strokes the surface and reads/hears the quote, it becomes multisensory. In the audiobook, the sound of rippling water would be played behind the quote.
