Five is a mini zine formed out of drawings made during 2020-2022. The drawings are loose, abstracted realities drawn from places I've been and other natural forms.
I became obsessed and trapped in a loop, and when looking through the 100+ drawings of blurred, fragmented illustrations, I found I had sort of drawn the same things five times. I was able to string them together into a story of five parts that go through the same phases. Lather, rinse, repeat. Slightly dystopian and devoid but fruitful.
Below are the first colour tests, they started in gradient form, no outlines, then slowly pulling back, stripping colour until they became line.
This long image shows how I assembled the drawings into a narrative of 5 parts. The zine follows this format, columns from top to bottom.
The zine was printed on pink copier stock and sold as part of a bundle of prints celebrating my work over the last 10 years.
