A selection of personal work based on themes from Early Irish literature and the response to the Atlantic Ocean. The body of work has a distinct maritime feel, given the texture and patination of the bronze pieces. The work explores the restlessness and aimlessness of the eternal wanderer torn between the ever-present sea and firm land. Informed by early Irish Immrama and the Buile Shuibhne, the formal vocabulary conveys visual metaphors from prehistory and early literature that are merged with imagery drawn from his voyages in self-built curachs: intersecting anthropomorphic, maritime and avian forms.
