¿Qué puede ocurrir cuando un amalgamado de objetos y detritos invasores se convierte en una figura con identidad propia? En otras palabras, los inmuebles de mi bisabuela y sus miles de habitantes mudos y estáticos han marcado mi memoria con horror y encanto cada vez que he regresado a casa. Inevitablemente, el tiempo obliga a uno a plantearse la convivencia con numerosos objetos que viven en medio del espectro entre el tesoro y el desecho, algunos claramente encarnando una de las dos categorías, pero casi todos invadiendo el hogar de forma absurda y entorpecedora. En un futuro aún por determinar gran parte de estos objetos recibirán sus últimas palabras, algo que debe y quiere ocurrir, pero que aún duele un poco por dentro. ¿Puede algo como esto realmente ser llamado una anomalía cuando una degradación nada harmoniosa se está reproduciendo tanto dentro como fuera del espacio vital? Una serie de paisajes y eventos podría ser la explicación de lo que ha creado una masa absurda, paradójica y nostálgica masa de desorden a la que nos cuesta despedirnos.
What could happen if an amalgamate of invading objects and detritus became a figure with its own identity? In other words, my great-grandmother’s properties and its thousands of mute, static inhabitants have shaped my memories with horror and delight every time I returned home. Inevitably, time forces the questioning of one’s convivence with heaps of objects that live in-between the spectrum of treasure and trash, some with a clear embodying of one of the former, many floating in the middle of both categories, but most invading the household in a bizarre, hindering way. In a future yet to be determined a great part of these pieces will receive their last words, something that has and wants to be done, but still slightly hurts on the inside. Can something like this truly be called an anomaly when such a particular kind of unharmonized degradation is reproduced both inside and outside the living space? A series of landscapes and events could be the explanation to what birthed a bizarre, paradoxical, nostalgic mass of clutter that we struggle to say goodbye to.
