Bonjour tout le monde! “Revolution is a French thing” - the new all electric Renault 5 launched today - complete with baguette holder for those wanting that extra je ne sais quoi.

Recom Paris worked with the Recom group in a full speed 24/7 workflow round the clock worldwide to proudly deliver these #fullcgi visuals for the unveiling today at the Geneva International Motor Show. In Paris, Recom Paris’ Creative Director Pepê Alram and Lead CG Artist Franck Julia worked with the creative freedom earned by a longstanding collaborative relationship with the client. 

From a set of initial palettes (inspired by everything from neon sunglasses to mother-of-pearl) they created vibrant abstract backgrounds for each colour world. As well as blending each individual set of colours together, it was vital that the whole suite worked together. These colour needed a great deal of meticulous work, experience and visual flair in their relationships, and to ensure the cars themselves were minimally affected by the multicoloured gradient and still looked coherent with their backgrounds. 

We pushed the boundaries of CG with subtle lighting effects and the use of AI to extend the background, re-interpreting the abstract shapes of the lights in interesting ways, combining the most interesting results and re-blending with CG textures - a time efficient way to work, as well as fun. 

With specialised render pipelines at Recom Blacksmith and superb project management from Gennifer Rousseau at Publicis, a dream team enabled record productivity of a gorgeous suite of images, right on time - and we’re very happy with the glowing results.
