A collection of all the ornate artwork completed between 2012 and 2013. These illustrations on average range from 18-24 hours to complete, from initial sketch to final illustration. Some of the illustrations are digitally colored, which would take an additional 3-6 hours to complete.

"Ornate Elephant", one of the earlier pieces that started the ornate style artwork for myself. Drawn with pen and ink with some graphite on Bristol vellum paper.
"Ornate Owl Head" completely drawn with a black ball point pen.
"Ornate Owl" drawn with a black gel pen onto 11" x 17" copy paper.
"Eye of the Tiger" drawn with rapidograph pens and digitally colored in Photoshop. Took over 24 hours to complete this drawing.
"Ornate Grizzly Bear" hand drawn ornately decorated Grizzly Bear. Drawn with graphite, gel pen, ball point pet, and black fountain pen ink washes. Inspired by the California Flag.
"Peacock" drawn for Wootzbrand.com, and inspired by paisley/henna artwork. Hand drawn with Copic Multiliner SP onto Crescent 110 cold press illustration board. Digitally colored in photoshop.
"Chickadee" outlined with micron and copic pens. Shaded with Pitt artist grey brushes and a black ball point pen on cold press illustration board
 
"Love Birds" started off as a tight sketch, but decided to keep it as is because I like the graphite texture.
"Bighorn Sheep" drawn with Copic Multliner SP, black colored pencil, ball point pen, Pitt Grey Artist Brush, and graphite on Crescent 110 cold press illustration board.
"Ornate Koala" hand drawn onto 11"x 14" Crescent 110 cold press illustration board with 0.3, 0.5 Micron, black calligraphy ink and black ball point pen. My first Australian animal in this style.
 
"Bee Eater" drawn with graphite, .25, .5 Micron pens, and Pitt artist pens for the greys on hot press illustration board.
"Hawk" drawn for Wootzbrand.com. Outline with Copic Multiliner SP and digitally colored in Photoshop.
"Ornate Elephant v.2" a follow-up to the original "Ornate Elephant". Drawn with graphite, ball point pen, gel pen, and Micron on Bristol paper.
"Moonlight Raven" hand drawn raven with multiple wings that are ornately patterned with a moon in the background to create more contrast. Completely drawn with a Pilot black gel pen onto Crescent cold press illustration board.
 
"Hummingbird"  hand drawn with .3, .5 Micron pens and black calligraphy ink on Crescent cold press illustration board.
 
"Valkyrie" inspired from a shot by the photographer Calin Moldovan. Drawn with Micron, ball point pen, watercolor, graphite, and colored pencil.
"Prarie Warbler" drawn with graphite, ball point pen, copic multiliner, colored pencil, and Pitt artist brushes.
"Headdress" drawn with a .25 Micron pen, black ball point pen, black india ink, watercolor, gel pen. On 9x12 bristol paper smooth surface.
"Howling Wolf" drawn with Copic Multiliner SP 0.1, 0.25, 0.35, 0.5 and Micron 0.8 on Arches watercolor paper. Took roughly 35 hours to complete. Thank you for viewing.
 
"Tigress" hand drawn image of a roaring tiger with the face of a lady inside. Drawn with Pitt Artist Brush Greys, Copic Multiliner SP .25, .35, .50, black and grey Verithin color pencils, graphite, cool grey markers, drawn on Arches watercolor paper.
 
"Rhinoceros" hand drawn with graphite only, and played with contrast in Photoshop
"Ornate Leopard" drawn with a black ball point pen only.
"Raven" hand painted ornately decorated raven on heavy stock 20x24 watercolor paper. Drawn with black gel pen, ball point pen, watercolor, calligraphy ink, acrylic, and lots of splatters.
 
"Ornate Rooster" drawn entirely from stippling...a very time consuming process. Took roughly 24+ hours with Rapidograph .25, .30, and .50.
"Red-Tail Skull" an illustration of a Red-Tail Hawk Standing on a Skull. All stippling with Rapidograph pens .25, .35, .5 on Crescent cold press illustration board. Took over 100+ hours to complete.
"Ornate Skull" drawn with Copic Multiliner pen, Prismacolor color pencils, Verithin color pencils, black ball point pen, graphite, watercolor, and Pitt artist brushes on 12 x 16 cold press illustration board.
"Lion's Head" drawn for Wootbrand.com. Outlined with Micron pens, and digitally colored in Photoshop.
