Custom one-of-a-kind letterpress cover, hand bound leather spine edition of the classic printing textbook General Printing. The cover uses a tri-tone image (of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow) from the book of hands setting type. The colors are of course from full-color printing inks, with the Black touch added to the spine.
The halftone line screen was set to make the dots as large as possible so that when a reader holds the book, the printing technique and colors are more noticeable than the actual image. The image itself is much more visible from across the room.
The back cover utilized a similar, but different image.
The end pages continued the theme, with Cyan and Magenta in the front and Yellow and Black in the back.
The head bands were also hand sewn in CMYK.
Designed, letterpress printed and hand bound by Paul Rustand, 2000.
