Fiber optic cables allow us to transmit bits and bytes of data from one side of the world to the other in fractions of a second. Submarine fiber optic cables are laid along the seabed between landing stations. These cables carry signals across the ocean; enabling telephone, internet, and private data transmission. Submarine fiber optic cables are laid directly on the seafloor and are completely exposed in deeper waters. As the cables approach the shore they require additional protection and are buried under the seabed to avoid potential damage.

I chose to represent this map inspired by the final layout of nourhan adawy but what you see in the background is not a basemap! 🙄

I wanted to make a basemap of my own. I highlighted the international borders of the continents in addition to the names of the oceans. It was nice to control where the names of the oceans or continents were written. I added internal lakes that would add realism to the shape of the real world. I also added a grid of coordinates - behind the continents - that would show the extent of the area’s elongation the closer we get to the poles in the WGS 1984 projection. web mercator (auxiliary sphere) .. So all you see here is Vector. 😁

I also wanted to put an unusual north direction arrow, so I chose a shape that expresses the content of the map (although global maps do not need a north direction arrow), but I found it creative to indicate the strength of the Wi-Fi network and the speed of Internet capture on the map to the direction north arrow .. I like the elements of the map to blend into its content. 😍

I also chose to clarify the number of stations and the number of each cable based on its color classification.
