Custom Keyboard for Sales Rep | UX/UI CASE STUDY

 
Amway Custom Keyboard
I have been assigned the task of designing a custom keyboard specifically for Amway sales representatives by Carrer Ninja Team. The goal is to address the challenges they face in direct sales and network marketing, and make the process easier, more enthusiastic, and technology-driven. The deadline for this project was 24 hours.
 
 
Problem Statement
“How might we enhance the efficiency of Amway sales representatives in direct sales by developing a custom keyboard tailored to their needs, enabling them to attain their sales targets and unlock their full potential”.
 
A Day as an Amway Sales Representative
- Stressed about making Sales/ Adding a new Member in the Downline.
- Don’t Know how to convince the last person who could be a lead to buy that Product he had inquired about.
- How to generate more Leads .
- How to Simplify the products to specific Users of different age, profession, with different needs.
- Dealing with Rejection not motivated to reach out.
- Marketing, Sending Pdfs and Catalogues.
- Keeping a track of Buyers Contacted and Buyers to consider.
- How to be a good leader, How to convince friends to buy from them and not others.
- How to conduct and advertise their referral Programs.
Generating and Selling Online.
- How to be quick with the Product knowledge to explain it to people.
- Differentiating them and the Products from others.

Research Takeaway:
While the Amway website/app works well for its products and information, the recommendations also perform well. However, to obtain the final output, you must fill out a questionnaire, which can be tiresome. Nonetheless, personalized recommendations play an important role in convincing buyers during one-on-one conversations.
Additionally, while many people use sales dashboards for tracking data, there is a need for something that can facilitate real-time communication to enhance the efficiency of one-on-one sales conversations.
Delving deeper into the challenges faced by sales reps, potential buyers often inquire about competitive brands and the network of others. The question arises, "Why should they buy from them?"
To improve this conversation, Sales Rep should provide a list of products that the person can currently purchase to begin with Amway. It can’t be the full catalog. The more relevant the products are to the customer's needs, the faster they can make a decision to purchase them.

- Share Documents, Catalogues, Offers, Rewards, Incentives(On Call/Inbuilt Shortcuts)
- Goals- Set Target for Leads
- Lead Scoring- (Potential Users, Non-Potential members only Buyers)
- Referral programs/Marketing- Email Templates & Drafts
- Feedback Mechanism- To understand how it is helping what changes to make for more smoothness.
- Competition/Market Saturation- Too many people promoting the same product in the same region.
 
Solutions:
- Google Keyword Recommendation.
- Inbuilt Shortcut to send Product Documents in Real Time.
- Amway Database in a Search Engine.
- Shortcut Keys, For Custom Users( Categorised as per Age, -Profession, Habits, Issues concerned, Goal, USP, User Behaviour's).
- Templates for Emails, Referral Programs Marketing.
- Resend Updates and Offers to Regular Clients, Sending Offers to potential Buyer.
- AI Driven Sales Coach.
- Block Chain Sales Tracking.
- Emotional Intelligence Assistance.
 
 
Inspiration:
Taking inspiration from Graphics Tablet’s Express Key and the Customer Care Dial Keypad, I considered adding shortcut functions to certain keys during conversations. This would eliminate the need for an additional device or input, which can be expensive and difficult to adapt to. This is especially important as Amway's sales representatives span different age groups and conduct nationwide direct selling using their phones.

 🚀 The integration of real-time recommendations on a keyboard can significantly boost sales and customer satisfaction, with potential improvements of 15% or more. Conversations become 10-20% shorter, streamlining interactions for greater efficiency. Actual results may vary based on specific implementation and user adoption.
 
However, how can we gauge the success of the product or its features and determine if they require any iterations?
1. One way to gain insights is by gathering feedback from Sales Reps after each use. This will help us understand both the user experience (UX) and any challenges that still exist in their communication. As there’s nothing better than Usability Testing which can show us how our designs are doing.
2. Additionally, keeping track of customer searches in the database can benefit both the business stakeholders and designers. It allows us to identify the problems customers are facing and explore future opportunities to address them.
3. Also, if this works well for sales representatives, they can try it with customers who were not interested earlier. With effective sales techniques, they can test this approach and see better results in generating more leads.
 
 
 🪄 References for Good & Bad Designs, as there’s not a similar product like this, I cannot provide images but as per my understanding, Good Design should be not really different than the usual Keyboard, as it would be hard to adapt to and as per Heuristic Laws UX principles state, ‘Match between the System and the Real World’ Users should have control and freedom, UI should be predictable and learnable.
