The Sheikh Zayed Bridge stands as a symbol of architectural and engineering excellence in Abu Dhabi, UAE. With a total cost of AED 800 million and completion in 2015, this landmark structure was meticulously designed and executed under the leadership of Rendel, Palmer, and Tritton UK, with COOOP playing a pivotal role in the engineering design process.

This bridge, part of the Third Bridge Crossing Contract III, serves as a vital transportation link, featuring two independent carriageways, each accommodating four lanes of traffic, along with two shoulders and a 1.5-meter-wide sidewalk for emergency use. Spanning an impressive 912 meters between abutments and boasting a width of 23.6 meters, the Sheikh Zayed Bridge is a prominent fixture in Abu Dhabi's skyline.

The design of the bridge is characterized by its innovative combination of concrete substructure and striking steel arches, creating a continuous flowing line that captures the essence of modern architectural aesthetics. The steel arch components, including the Marina, Main Channel, and Secondary Channel arches, exhibit spans of varying lengths, contributing to the bridge's dynamic visual appeal.

COOOP's contributions to the project included preliminary engineering design to verify the concept design, detailed engineering design, and the production of complete computer-based drawings and bar bending schedules. Through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to stringent quality assurance requirements, COOOP ensured that the Sheikh Zayed Bridge met the highest standards of structural integrity and functionality.
