COOOP's Restoration of Mozambique's Limpopo Railway Line and Bridges
COOOP takes on the monumental task of redesigning and revitalizing the Limpopo Railway Line and Bridges in Mozambique, a crucial transportation artery damaged severely by floods in 1998 and 1999. With a project cost totalling USD 350 million and overseen by the USAID Mission to Mozambique, COOOP collaborates with lead consultants Parsons Global Services Ltd. and De Leuw Cather Overseas Ltd. based in Dubai. This comprehensive project spans approximately 275 kilometres, encompassing not only the restoration of the railway but also the rehabilitation of vital bridge infrastructure.

COOOP's services extend from meticulous inspection, survey, and investigation to the formulation of strategic repair and rehabilitation plans tailored to the unique challenges posed by the Limpopo region. With a focus on engineering excellence, COOOP spearheads the design of railway tracks and bridges, ensuring robustness and resilience against future environmental hazards.

Moreover, the project emphasizes the integration of Design for Behaviour principles, aiming to create infrastructure that not only functions efficiently but also promotes sustainable and safe transportation practices. By enhancing connectivity and reliability along the Limpopo Railway Line, COOOP's efforts contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Mozambique, fostering trade, and improving access to essential services for communities along the route.
