DLA Piper
Intellectual Property and Technology News
The Intellectual Property and Technology practice at DLA Piper wanted to create a publication for their clients that would stand out from their competitors. Recognizing that their clients got most of their information online, it was decided to break with the norm and present a printed magazine. Since 2009, the publication has been very successful for the practice, gaining significant recognition from their clients. The 2010 issues won the 2011 Legal Marketing Association Your Honor Awards in the category of “Promotional and Collateral Materials – Newsletter or Alert.”
Brochure System
Wanting to become the preferred law firm for business, DLA Piper’s brochure system needed to produce items that appeared more personal to their clients as well as create a way to maintain and gain new business. As one of the lead designers on the team, we created a brochure system that promoted the firm’s practices, emphasizing cross-selling and personalized proposals.

The top-level brochure gave a broad overview of the practice or sector, containing non-time-sensitive information, and worked as a folder for the other materials. Four-page brochures with more current information about the practices, along with customizable pitch brochures created specifically for the client, complimented the package.

Holiday Card
DLA Piper wanted a global holiday card focused on the concepts of celebration and joy. The challenge for this card was to select a concept that was well accepted globally and that respected all cultures and beliefs. Using stars seemed ideal since we all share the same starry night and many cultures use the star shape as a symbol of their own. The stars were carefully designed to not represent any specific culture.
