Female Genital Mutilation comprises all acts involving the removal of the female external genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. This unwholesome practice is often meted on girls and young women under 18. Over 200 million girls and women alive today have undergone FGM with an alarming rate of possible victims in the nearest future.

THE PROJECT

This produced video is the story of young Aliyah, a FGM Survivor, told by herself narrating her mutilation experience and the pains she endured during the gory act. This young primary school girl was given a platform to share her experience by the Heritage Life Support Initiative (HELSI), an NGO with a focus on children persons living with disabilities and women.
