Landscape Design Clove Valley Resort by Yifang Vista,
in co-operation with BCKJ Architects
In a valley of the Yanshan Mountains, close to the Great Wall of China, a new high-end eco-resort is being developed. The narrow woody valley is part of the Badaling National Forest Park and very famous for it’s blooming clove trees, which cover the slopes in blossom and fragrance. The goal is to provide visitors the opportunity to experience the history and natural soundings of the Great Wall landscape more intensively, contrasting the current hop-on hop-off tourist programmes.
A set of raised units are being constructed in the valley floor and slopes, sometimes rising up to 15 meters. Infrastructure and public space are bring adapted to the natural conditions of the valley. Via various boardwalks, visitors reach their cabins by crossing ponds, the valley creek, or by climbing uphill deep into the forest. At the end of the upper boardwalk visitors are rewarded by a glimpse of the Badaling section of the Great Wall.
