Mýrdalsjökull Arctic Ariel - Solo Piece

This piece is a top-down bird's-eye view of the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier in Southern Iceland. This glacier has been around for centuries and is the fourth-largest glacier in Iceland. Unfortunately, global warming is rapidly shrinking this glacier and we could see it completely disappearing within our lifetimes. I hope to convey a sense of urgency surrounding the issue of rapidly increasing global warming that is destroying our planet as well as create a feeling of awe for the beautiful things that nature has created. This glacier is quite unique as it is one of the few glaciers that has a volcano inside of it. The black ash covering the ice comes from the Katla Volcano’s last major eruption in 1918.
