The Malachia Greco Foundation is a non-profit organization whose main goal is supporting premature babies and their parents all around the world. Founded by parents who experienced the loss by themselves, TMGF represents strength, compassion, and willingness to help others go through difficult times.
The story of octopus in NICU* begins a few years ago at a university hospital in Denmark. Their study found that holding the octopus tentacles gave comfort to premature babies in the incubator. They had a more regular heart rate and better oxygenation because the tentacles resembled the umbilical cord they liked to play/hold in utero. The university started distributing octopuses to all of its hospitals, and now people all over the world have started doing the same.
*NICU stands for "neonatal intensive care unit". When babies are born early, have health problems, or a difficult birth they go to the hospital's NICU
