Château de Nice
3D reconstruction of historical Castle of Nice (1691), Nice, French Riviera.

1706, Louis XIV order the destruction of the Castle of Nice, centerpiece of four piece system forteresses along the seaside of Nice and surroundings. This was to protect the unique port of House of Savoy, whish Nice and the County of Nice was part from 1388 to 1860. House of Savoy was France's ennemy. France causes several sieges and destructions in the County of Nice in History in order to take this strategical part of territory. That's why the area was protected by forteresses.

Once the Castle of Nice was destroyed, France invided several times the aera to make it French. No more decent defenses to protect itself, Nice and its county is definitly occupated by French army then people, since 1860. This is a true story. If Louis XIV hadn't destroyed the Castle, Nice would have propbably been still fortified. I wanted to show to everybody what it used to be and what we could have get today.

Except archives from centuries, there is no modern representation of the Castle of Nice. Now there is! Hope you enjoy. I used only visual archives from 17th century.
