Darling Magazine is a seasonal print magazine that is self describes as "More than a magazine, it's a movement. A catalyst for positive change..a voice of encouragement...a wise guide to "the art of being a woman" in every season of life." http://darlingmagazine.org
I had the pleasure of illustrating the 2014 Spring Issue. The magazine is divided in 8 personas: The Beautician, The Confidant, The Intellectual, The Explorer, The Hostess, The Stylist, The Dreamer, and The Achiever. When they approached me to do these illustrations, they told me they wanted a loose hand drawn look with pops of color. I was able to achieve this look by using a combination of india ink and a ink pen. I then topped it all off with simple watercolor washes and illustrated type.
Since the issue was loosely San Francisco themed, I did a watercolor painting of the Golden Gate Bridge for their contributors spread.
