Last year I created this sinister artwork for a Cathar castle / museum near Toulouse.
The objective was to represent an ancient piece from the Cathar period in it's "natural" environment, complementing the exhibition. As it happens, "the natural environment" is mostly blood, inquisition and blood again, oh and also burning at the stake.
I absolutely wanted to reproduce the linocut print effect while working on digital media. Well, if you've ever wondered, here is how digital carving looks like!
