Didoque is a an experimental and freestyle, freeform graphic language, created on the
deconstruction and decomposition of the HTF DIDOT typeface.
The word DIDOQUE is a portmanteau, resulting from the combination of the words DIDOT + BAROQUE.

THE DIDOQUE CARTOUCHES

Cartouches were a framing devices widely used as an ornamental feature in the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries european arts. Created blank at the centers, to frame important messages, heraldry or landscapes.

The Didoque Cartouches are a personal re-interpretaion of the ancient Baroque and Rococó cartouches using only DIDOT deconstructed typefaces.
Like the Renaissance and early Baroque cartouches, some are symmetrical, and others asymmetrical like the ones in the Late French Baroque or Rococó always making use of the “Rocaille” (Rubble or pebbles), an elaborate reference to shells and rocks.
